Voice your opinions on this new set of PS1 reviews.

Colony Wars is new (and long awaited), while the others are updates (both went from B's to B+'s).

Keep in mind that Strikers 1945 on the Playstation is a port of Strikers 1945 II and not the first game.

I love games like Sled Storm so I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for it. Racing winter games are one of my favorite types of games. I looked on the eBay links and this one is pretty cheap. Probably will pick up a copy soon.

I have to disagree with your Colony Wars score.  A couple of things to point out first.  James Earl Jones is not the guy doing the voiceovers.  Also, the two types of lasers have two purposes.  The purple laser is used to take out the shields of the enemy ship.  Once the shield is down, you switch to the red lasers, which does the direct damage to the hull.  You can still use the red lasers to take out the shield, but it takes a long time, and that's probably why it was taking you 20 hits to destroy the enemies.

For me, Colony Wars was the first space shooter that made me feel like I was actually flying around in space.  I'm speaking about both the physics and the scenery.  It's an effect the developers had been trying to achieve for a while, going all the way back to games like Star Raiders.  As far as the storyline and cutscenes, I think they are way above average in terms of entertainment compared to other titles released at the time.   Melodramatic, yes, but isn't that the case for just about every video game in existence?

Sorry if I sound harsh, I just disagree with all my heart.  At least you're not the guy on Youtube who hates Colony Wars so much, he posted a video showing him snapping the CD in half.

Anyway, I'd give the game an A-.  I agree the briefings are windy and the arrow system doesn't work very well.  As for Snow Storm, I've played a little bit of it and it seems enjoyable.  People probably pass over it at the game store since it kind've blends in with the deluge of sports games for the PS1.  I don't know anything about Strikers.

As a kid I used to love Colony wars, looking back now the first and third game have aged somewhat poorly but I'd still rate it above your score, Critic

As Orion said, each laser has a purpose, moreover you can save every three missions this is done so you "stick" with the story branch you fall into instead of trying to get every mission successful.

As for the briefings, I liked them

Thanks for clearing that up.  I was confused about that.

Nice Strikers review! And yes, the graphics are excellent. They look especially good when playing it on my PS3 with "smoothing" on!

Okay I never played Colony Wars but it is a psynosis title and all of their games were highly polished.  That is until sony got them and then they got to make wipeout year after year.  That is until last year when sony closed the studio.
I played the Darklight years instead.  A very good game from EA but it does get really hard after a while.  I like space shooters so I might look at this.

Sled Storm cannot remember if I played it.

Strikers 1945 was a really great game.

The worst space shooter I played was Star Trek on the 360....
