"You have to wonder what the developers at EA have been doing over the past year".

Hopefully working on the PS4 version.

But seriously, this game is atrocious. "D" is too good of a grade. Nobody knows how to cover in this game. Even the worst quarterbacks routinely have completion percentages in the nineties. Even the trivial things like the weather don't look realistic. The rain looks totally fake, as it has for years.

It's too bad, because I really thought EA had something going with Madden 12. But it's one step forward, two steps back with this series.
On ESPN radio, all they've been doing is hyping this game up. That's just one more reason to tune out ESPEN radio.
ESPN, EA, Doritos, Madden, Mt Dew, XBOX 360,.................

Who could ask for anything more? Fratboy culture, it makes a body proud....

I was waiting for Sega T to pipe in.  I bet you are glad they are not releasing this on the wii u now!  It is just such a shame Sega or Midway are no longer producing grid iron games.  Then you could have a choice of games.  No one likes just watching the one channel so why do we need only one game supplier making the games.

The last Madden game I bought was on the Xbox.  I have not been interested in the 360 games at all. In fact the last sports game I got was Tiger Woods 11 which I have hardly touched.

Though you have to think they knew that it was a piece of do do.  Remember when pre orders could get a years subscription to the NFL channel?  That tells you they knew the game was bad.  Or that tells me.

Also Sega T was saying that there were problems with it.  Seems like he has been vindicated.

I've always been infatuated with the idea of an online league with the possibility of 32 different teams ran by 32 different people. There would be drafts and all of that, you could watch film to pick up on people's play calling tendencies, do trades, play the games, maybe have a prize pool. But how can you even do that with a game that sucks this bad. Why is it so hard to have a satisfying league like that? Can't there be a good game engine to play with? It's 2013 for crying out loud. 2013!!! Do you know how many years have passed since we had the technology to make something like that happen? I find the gameplay from football games with 3d engines 20 years ago to be more realistic and satisfying than the crap EA's been coming out with lately.

Don't mean to get off topic, but ESPN as a whole sucks now. All they report on is teams from huge markets, LeBron James, Tim Tebow, they have SKIP BAYLESS, and they even MAKE UP stories just to increase ratings. A disgrace to real journalism, and I'm a minor in journalism.

Watch NBC Sports Network or Fox Sports 1. MUCH, much better than anything ESPN will ever do (PTI and Olbermann are possible exceptions)

When I say I've played games 20 years ago more realistic than Madden 25, I'm talking about the Front Page Sports Football Pro series, for the computer. The 95 version was the best. It's the best football game ever. I'd rate NFL 2k5 the 2nd best game (counting consoles and computers) but 2k5 isn't nearly as good as Front Page Sports Football Pro 95. It's a shame there's no way for the VGC to review it.

Tecmo Super Bowl is more realistic than this game. At least guys actually cover people in that game.

Maybe I was correct. Just saw the PS4 trailer, and it seems to explain why they didn't put any noticeable effort whatsoever into the current gen. And in all honesty, that's fine with me, I'm getting a PS4, and that's really the game that counts.

It's like resting your starters the last game of the season when you're 13-2 because it's the playoffs that matter at that point.

Critic? Have you ever thought of a guest reviewer for newer sports games? Like a younger relative or a teenage child of a friend. The younger generation seems to enjoy these newer Madden games. Just a thought. Not saying you are to old to review these newer versions but maybe a younger perspective would explain the acceptance of inferior modern sports games.

I gave up on modern sports years ago. So your review makes a lot of sense to me.
