I thought the Saturn version was brilliant, it was part of the Lobotomy trilogy, the only team who seemed to be able to get the Saturn to perform in a FPS.

The thing is that Lobotomy's ports of Duke3D, Quake and Exhumed/Powerslave to the Saturn all used their own custom Slavedriver engine, rather than the Build, Quake and Build engines of the PC originals.

I haven't actually played any of them, despite having Quake for the Saturn around somewhere, but from videos I've watched of them, it's very very obvious they all have a notably different feel to the PC originals, with Exhumed/Powerslave actually featuring an all new set of levels, basically making it it's own game.

Though the critic didn't seem to mind with SNES Doom, that also used a custom engine, rather than the Doom engine.

The PS1 version of Exhumed/Power Slave is a port of the Saturn version, though I read that it's not as well performing on PS1 as Saturn (i.e the Saturn version is faster).

Here's a list of all the console Duke Nukem games.  The ones titled Duke Nukem 3D have significant differences between them.  BTW, the Land of the Babes one sounds like it would make a funny review.

Duke Nukem II (GBC)

Duke Nukem 3D (Game.com, Saturn, PS1, N64, Xbox Live Arcade, PS3, Vita)

Duke Nukem Forever (PS3, 360)

Duke Nukem: Time to Kill (PS1)

Duke Nukem: Zero Hour (N64)

Duke Nukem: Land of the Babes (PS1)

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project (Xbox Live Arcade)

Duke Nukem Advance (GBA)

Duke Nukem: Critical Mass (DS)

Nice reviews, Critic, but I'm kind of amazed this is actually the first version of Duke Nukem 3D you reviewed, since it's such a great game. If you ever have time, try the Sega Saturn (or maybe N64) version.

Also.

'Duke Nukem3D' was released on the Mega Drive/Sega Genesis in Brazil and 'Duke Nukem Mobile' was released for the Zodiac handheld, making it a 'console game' as much as the Nintendo handheld versions.

Both these releases have original levels.

Game.com!!... the only thing that could bring me back from a brief hiatus.  I love me some Game.com reviews.  I've been looking forward to the Jurassic Park review for a long time, because it was my favorite Game.com game as a kid (of the 4 games I had) [then again, Quiz Wiz and Lights Out weren't much competition].  I'm surprised Jurassic Park didn't make it up into the C-range.  Try the motorcycle rather than the big humvee-- I think you would find it a lot more fun.  As for Duke Nukem.. it is absolutely terrible and I'm amazed it didn't get an F-.  How can anyone even tell what is going on on the screen?  Everything looks so awful and the ghosting is so bad, and the controls are so horrendous, that it has got to be the most unplayable game on the Game.com (which, by definition, also makes it one of the most unplayable games ever).  For those that haven't played Duke on the Game.com, don't be fooled by the pretty-looking screenshot-- it looks terrible in action.

I knew about those releases, but I don't think the Critic reviews the Brazil-only releases and Zodiac games.
