Check this out on the mighty Atari 800xl.  64k of pure computing P O W E R! At 2:55 there is a boss which I attacked alot in 1986.

Okay the graphics look pathetic now but back in the day they were awesome.

There's also the angle that certain bosses may loose their edge over time.

For instance, the Cyber Demon of the original Doom was once a desperate and terrifying fight to the death. Now days, he's not tough to take down in a straight fight.

Shadow of the Colossus is a game composed entirely of finding and killing a
series of bosses and the Critic really liked it. Of course, the colossi in the
game are absolutely textbook examples of how to make a great boss fight: varied,
epic, and with a different strategy for each one that still builds on what
you've learned before.

@Splash

You know what? Shadow of the Colossus probably is overrated, based on the
sheer amount of praise it gets. Thing is, something can be overrated and still
be really good (ex: the Beatles). Have you played it? Or are you just taking
this guy's word for it?

I'm taking no one's word for it. I don't have an opinion on it. I just brought it up.

Sorry, "are you just taking this guy's word for it?" does sound like a needlessly
defensive thing to say, but I got a little annoyed after suggesting a boss-filled
game that the Critic and I both liked and having you respond by telling me
"Yeah, well, this guy on the Internet doesn't like it". I have heard Dave
complain about bosses being too numerous or boss fights being overly long in
a few of his other reviews, but I at least wanted to present a counterexample
that I was aware of.
