So, what would your grade be if all the online headaches weren't there?

I just finished playing through this with my wife on co-op. I didn't have any trouble setting up co-op games but that's probably because my main profile is always logged into Xbox live anyway.
Critic, did you think it was really hard to see in the motorcycle level? We were playing split screen so maybe it isn't bad on full screen but we kept running into trees because we couldn't see anything in front of us. It took us forever to get through and was a definite low point in the game.
It seemed like other than the occasional big spectacle, a lot of this game didn't look any better graphics-wise than Gears 3. It certainly played exactly the same too which I wasn't too upset with but it seems like they could have refined some of the controls by now.

I have played this game quite a bit. I give it a B plus. the game worked perfectly for me. I play the horde regularly. I think it is one of the consoles that probably does not work well with with slower internet providers.

ESauce,
I played the motorcycle stage solo but I could see how that would be hard via split-screen.
I think you make a good point that the graphics and gameplay are not appreciable different from the 360 games. In fact, it looks like the same character models. Maybe I should mention that in the review.

Typo: You said it was a first-person shooter and not a third-person shooter.
I bought it on sale over the holidays and played for an hour or two split screen with a family member. I just don't get Gears of War. I feel the characters are generic, the story is generic, the weapons are generic other than the gun with the chainsaw - I know I'm in the minority but I don't know what separates the franchise so much over other competant third-person shooters.
On a side note, I didn't have problems with getting into split screen. He just logged in as a guest and everything worked fine. I also don't have 95 percent of the problems that I see on this board though with my PS4 and Xbox One though.

I agree the characters are bland, the story stinks (I skip most of the scenes) and the weapons aren't exactly mind-blowing...but it's really fun.
