Good review, but if I had to argue one thing, it'd be that there is NOTHING twitch-based about this game. Just like Dark Souls, it's all about going slowly and methodically. More often than not, playing this like a hack 'n slash is what gets you killed.

You can't judge the game based on the professional speedrunners who could play it in their sleep.

That's certainly true. I meant it to be a humorous response ;)

But in all seriousness, Demon's Souls demands very quick response time from the player. Take, for example, the skeletons in 5-1. Flamelurker. The Old Monk. The False King. The enemy attack patterns are much faster and less predictable than in Dark Souls. This is a key difference between the two games. Enemies hit hard and fast, especially in the late game. Being prepared and memorizing locations isn't enough. You must react quickly or even your finely-tuned character build will get ripped apart like tissue paper.

There are many ways to play Demon's Souls. Sometimes I speed through and beat it in a few hours. Sometimes I take it slower and scour the levels for treasure. Regardless, when you go up against some of the more challenging encounters, action game instincts kick in.
