Got some new PS1 reviews for you. NBA In the Zone is an update (C- to B-) but Tenchu is new. Comments?

I find myself agreeing for the most part with your Tenchu review. I have a mastered out file on my PS1 memory card from when I was a teenager. Grandmaster every level etc. And I loaded it up earlier this year and found that it hasn't aged well. The controls were really clunky, I had some collision detection issues, etc.

However, the poison rice ball is still the best item in the game... and it isn't even one you unlock.

Thanks for these. Your review for NBA in the Zone makes me want to play it, so I will definitely have to check it out.

I'm happy to see the Tenchu review (and got a couple laughs out of it), and actually don't mind the low score either. Some people have fond memories of the game, but I don't feel the same. My best friend as a teenager was obsessed with this game when it came out, so I borrowed it from him. I thought it was an interesting concept, and very stylish for the time (the darkness and death animations were very cool by 1998 standards), but I didn't find it to be that great/fun of a game.

To me, the game is sort of like a ninja version of Splinter Cell... the key is hiding in the shadows and sneaking up on all your enemies from behind, because alerting any of them will put your health at significant risk. Unfortunately, it's a lot more plodding than Splinter Cell, and it's much much harder to find your enemies and to avoid detection. And being seen is a lot more damaging to your health, due to the ensuing attack. For those reasons, I found the game to be too hard and couldn't make it further than the second or third level. I eventually just gave up on trying, and then used the cheat codes to play through the game.

I have a lot of basketball games, including Nba live '98 for ps1 and NBA courtside 2 for n64 from that era, still, in the zone looks fun.

Tecnu is also a medicated soap used for stopping the spread of poison oak and poison ivy.

Typo note: The ninja in Tenchu is Rikimaru. In the review, there's a typo where he is called "Ric Maru".
