As a Mappy fanatic (yes, we exist), I feel a need to point out a mistake in your review. Mappy is not an elephant, he's a mouse--perhaps the most famous cartoon mouse in the world. I'm interested in how you came to the conclusion that he was an elephant. After all, elephants have large trunks and aren't often pursued by cats.
Visit Mappyland if you need any information on Mappy's games and Mappy culture.

Namco Museum Volume 2 review
Have you quite forgotten Micky Mouse?!

lol
Actually I'm not sure how popular Mappy was outside of Japan. I don't remember it being a very widespread game in the US game when it first hit the arcades. Still a fun game though.

I think Mappy could have been huge over here if it had a bigger audience. Nintendo and Namco really blew it when they decided not to bring the NES version of Mappy to the States. Instead, we got the inferior Mappyland.

Namco Museum Volume 2 review
I'm pretty sure Mappy isn't even in the top 10 most famous mice in the world. Apart from Mickey, there's Jerry (from Tom and Jerry), Mighty Mouse, Chuck E. Cheese, the Three Blind Mice, uh.... Modest Mouse.... anyway, no one knows who Mappy is.

Tell me, does Chuck E. Cheese have his own watch?

And does Mighty Mouse have his own signature lighter shaped like a firearm?

I'm not bored enough to look, but I did look up "Mighty Mouse" on eBay, which got 322 hits, and "Chuck E. Cheese," which got 109 hits, compared to 9 hits for "Mappy," all of which are video games (no merchandise).

Who wouldn't want to make a quick buck hawking their second-hand Chuck E. Cheese junk? People like to hang on to Mappy stuff, because it holds its value.
Also, Mappy is a lot like soccer: everyone but the Americans are crazy about it. I hear South Korea is considering putting Mappy Mouse on their currency. What is is about a crime-fighting rodent that Americans find so repulsive?
It doesn't matter, really. I just wanted to say Mappy isn't an elephant.

While I'm not a Mappy fan (the controls always botherd me)
I' m glad someone else is defending volume2 of Namco hits.
It is my favorite one, because Super Pac Man is MY favorite
pac game (mostly because I'm better at it..hard to get 5
screens in Pac man anymore, but I can still get 20 in SPM)
and also, Xevious rocks. I do agree that apart from those
and mappy, the other games are bad.but ALL of these
collections have SOME bad games on them...
Volume2 is also the rarest and very hard to come by these
days.glad I bought it when it came out!
