Cool article, and it completely destroys the stereotype that video games are mindless. It even promotes CREATIVITY and better PERCEPTION. I know it's from 2012, but it's still a nice article with great points.

The article about 'when computer games may keep the brain nimble' really did not do much to dispel the image of the lonely overweight guy on a couch, with some Oscar Madison issues, in the middle of the night, shooting people with a gun for his amusement. Y'know, violent troglodytes. The idea that gaming could be an aid to the elderly came up 20 years ago in the Mortal Kombat controversy. 1992 Journal of Gerontology (what, you don't have a subscription?) showed that gaming over several months helped the reaction times of elderly individuals.

There is little recognition of how many women play video games, or how many gamers are married, with jobs and kids and don't melt in the sunlight or erupt into flames when soap is applied to their skins.
