Overproduced games - plaguing the industry?

Not a gameplay vs graphics debate.

Not knocking the graphics.

What  I am arguing, is the DK series is overrated because of things like this - big speciall effects to mask pedestrian gameplay. Where as Mario is always fundamentally sound, that series does nothing cheap within the game to wow you. It is shock and awe gaming, I think it kills replay value.

Paul123-Except I HAVE criticized "you know who" before so that negates what you were going to say.

JWK-Agreed, while I do find good gameplay more important then good graphics, there's no reason in the world why a game can't have both.

Steer-I don't think DK is "overrated" because of the graphics, that's just incredibly bizarre logic if you ask me, and the series dosen't do "cheap" things to try and wow people at all.  The gameplay is every bit as good as the graphics.

I don't think Marios always "fundamentally sound" some of the spin-off games I could've done without.
