Casual Friendly FPS?

I don't usually play FPS games, but that's mostly because the ones coming out lately are big on unlocking better guns the more you play. That means that when I join, months or years after its released, I'm cannon fodder for the people who've been playing since release. That's just not fun, you know? Does anybody here know of a FPS that's more friendly to casual players? Like, no upgrading weapons? Everyone uses the same guns? Also, it needs to be on PS3. Maybe Wii U, if there are any.

Splatoon seems pretty laid back and casual.

I was going to say any of the time splitters games, but those are gamecube. I guess I have not really played a lot. I hear team fortress 2 could be one, which is on the orange box for ps3.

If I remember correctly, they took the TF2 servers down on PS3. I have it on my laptop, but as strange as it may sound, I'm actually worse at aiming with with a mouse than I am with a thumbstick, lol.

It can run on nearly any PC though, so I'd definitely recommend it too. Very easy to get into.

Even if they haven't taken down the PS3 servers, it'll be crap. They never patch old games and Team Fortress 2 was unplayable on the Xbox 360 years and years ago because of unpatched exploits. Everybody cheating every match, no fun at all.

I do play it now and then, but I absolutely suck at it, lol. I always try to play Sniper or Spy because I tend to do better when... well, when I'm somewhere that nobody's aiming for me. I still can't aim for crap, though, and somehow people still seem to always know where I am when I'm cloaked as a spy.
