The Video Game Critic

I recently purchased a Acscii Joystick to use with my PS2 slim. However no matter what game I try to play it seems as though someone is madly tapping away on the X button. Once the game starts it rapidly pauses on and off. It doesn't seem to matter what I have any of the switches set to. This is really a shame because I have heard positive things about this control stick but I can't seem to get it to work right. Does anyone know what I could do? Thank you.
