I would say an N64 would have been worth it for Ocarina of Time or Mario 64 back in the day. I mean Mario 64 alone was certainly enough for me as a kid. For that matter, I feel that most Mario and Zelda games are good enough to justify getting whatever system they're on.

And The Last of Us absolutely justifies getting a PS3.

I've always said that Star Control II is so damn good that it's worth owning a 3DO for. It's a bold statement, but I fully stand behind it lol.

DC: Soul Caliber
Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire: N64

At least that's why I bought the N64. Good times.

Halo: Xbox
ActRaiser: SNES
River Raid : 2600

I cannot understand why they never released that CD version for PCs. It would have been such a hit.

Completely agreed on Soul Calibur. I can't believe I didn't think of that. I would absolutely own a Dreamcast just for that game. Another fighting game I'd own a system for is Street Fighter 2 on Genesis. The six button controller is the only way I'll play that game.

I just bought river raid but I don't have my 2600 hooked up right now. I'm excited to try it out once I connect it

I went out and purchased a PS1 for Ridge Racer, mainly due to me playing it in the arcades religiously prior to that.

I bought a WiiU to play Bayonetta 2. Obviously I knew there would be other great games for the system (including Wonderful 101, another Platinum Games offering), but I was willing to buy the system even if it was only to play that game.

I bought an Xbox just for RalliSport Challenge 2. I knew someone who bought a Jaguar just for Alien vs. Predator.

I think the answer to that question is always personal. In first instance I bought a Xbox 360 for Gears of War and BioShock (exclusive release at first). I bought a Nintendo DS in for Hotel Dusk and Brain Training. I bought a Wii for Super Mario Galaxy 1&2 and Sonic Colors. And so on...
