Because of my age, when I think of atari, I think retro. And $300 for anything retro is way too much if you ask me.

Maybe they're going for the J.C. Penny pricing scheme; mark it up high so you can run a sale every weekend.

An interview with Feargal Mac (Mac Conuladh,) who's over Atari Box's development.

If kids can hook up their laptops to the TV, do they need this?

Wait.... THAT'S the guy who is overseeing this? He's a total scammer. That game band was an overpriced thumb drive, and the crowdfunders never got the band they expected, after an almost eternal delay. His new idea for a smart watch that simply holds an SD card to save your games is marketed like a Sham-Wow, and is a complete joke. I am officially disinterested in this box, just like that.

AtariBox finally revealed their controller. Looks like an old Atari 2600 joystick streamlined for modern eyes.

Interesting - they do look like they gave a classic boxy Atari 2600 controller to an art student, and said, 'make it slick'.

Several issues
1) The button is not raised up enough
2) Why not a button on each side for both right and left handed people? (or a button on the top of the joystick)
3) Why not a turbo button?

Alternatively, many people might prefer a d-pad and not a joystick at all.

Just seen this on Facebook, I think it looks very well done.

I think the controller looks pretty cool. I will not be buying one of these but I don't wish failure on any company. I hope they are very successful but I am not very optimistic about their chances.

Pre Orders Dec. 14

Does this mean they're dropping the crowd funding campaign?

I hate to be "that" guy, but I'm seriously not understanding the point of this. It's entering an already crowded market for the same price as a PS4 (which, btw, has two Atari Flashback volumes readily available), no distinguishable hook, and it's competing with itself in all of the wrong ways (do I buy a Flashback for $40, or an Atari Box, which has less functionality than my PS4, Switch, AND phone for $300?).

Don't get me wrong, it's a neat little curiosity, but how could this possibly go anywhere?
