I have been following your site for probably a decade. I don't sense you are slanted toward any one company. After all, you have reviews for pretty much ever system imaginable. However, you seem to have a dislike for the Internet (regardless of having a website), and as a result, you are biased against games with online components. This also causes you to overrate games that have a low number of online components. Online features should not be a factor in your scores. A game either plays good, or it doesn't.

The oldest game with an online component I found that Dave reviewed is the Dreamcast's Bomberman Online [Grade B]. It has single player, multiplayer and online modes. Dave wrote "Perhaps the main attraction of the game is that you don't need to invite three friends over since you can play online. The single player modes didn't appeal to me at all."

Certainly Dave's views can have evolved, but I see any dislike of online gaming coming from either a collectors viewpoint (can that online game be played 20 years from when it was released?) and maybe aspects of online culture being toxic, or online modes taking over from couch co-op modes, and maybe other features like online games leading to always on patches or digital download instead of physical media. So,, its not inherently that playing games with people on the internet is bad, its that playing games with people on the internet is part of a set of changes.

Nah, not your fault Nintendo produces awesome games and you grade them accordingly.

This. At least, this is true at the current moment.

If nothing else, my time spent on this site has shown me that, if The Critic is "pro" anything, he's pro good games. If he plays a game and enjoys it, he's going to let us all know. Likewise, if he plays a game and thinks it's a mess, well, we're going to find out about that, too!

I've always appreciated the honesty in the reviews on this site, and if nothing else, I think it helps put some things in perspective for those of us reading. Some of my favorite things in life (Skateboarding! Indiana Jones! The Chicago Blackhawks!) have gotten some awful video game treatments over the years. It's important to be impartial, and honest, when something doesn't meet your expectations. That being said, when something exceeds your wildest dreams, it's OK to rave about it, too!

You can be the biggest fan of Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, or whoever, but if your favorite system gets an exclusive game, and you don't think it's all that, it can be hard fact to accept. All of us have probably bought a game that got tons of rave reviews, yet just didn't click with us when we finally played it. The Critic has given out many positive scores over the years to games in the Uncharted, Halo, and Mario series. However, I trust that, if he played Super Mario Odyssey and thought it was a dud, it wouldn't have gotten an A+

Do I agree with every review on this site? Oh, hell no! But I do think that this is one of the most comprehensive, balanced, and fair collections of video game review on the entire Internet. If I felt a certain sway one way or another (AAA games always get high scores! He says Cuphead is the greatest game ever? He gave the new Call of Duty got an A? Again??) then I would stop coming here in a heartbeat.

All I can see, in regards to this pro-Nintendo topic, is that The Critic has been on a hot streak of sorts, and has managed to select a nice set of games for his new Switch system. There's plenty of PS4 and Xbox One games with high scores on this site, too. If he had played Axiom Verge for the PS4, instead, he probably would have liked it just as well. If Breath of the Wild had been released on the Xbox One, I think it would have gotten the same score.

A great game is a great game, no matter the publisher or the system. This is something I believe The Critic firmly understands.
