No campaign in new Call of Duty?

Postby VideoGameCritic » April 18th, 2018, 5:08 pm

Rumors are swirling about how the upcoming Call of Duty may ditch the campaign altogether.

I hate the tone of this article and similar ones like it. They are always making excuses for the publishers.

The fact is that campaigns in games like this are incredibly time-consuming and expensive to produce.

Well boo hoo! Are we supposed to feel sorry for the game companies? Isn't this their job?

Also, the campaign is the one aspect of the game that is never monetized post-launch, and in the current gaming climate, that’s key as well

I love how this is thrown in as an afterthought, despite the fact that it really gets to the heart of the issue.

Oh well, at least I'll save an extra $60 this year. Just like I'm saving money by not getting the new Madden.

Thoughts?

Can't read the article with scripting off; not turning it on to do so. Was this story by a staff writer or an independent contributor?

From your post... Rumors are rumors; I won't make much of 'em without more evidence. I can see why a developer might drop offline portions of a game; if most of their audience only cares about the online portions, why not? It's just good business.

Too bad this isn't Pirates of the Caribbean 3; they'd get killed about 3 minutes after saying that. ;)

And, no, I'm not wishing harm on any designer/programmer/marketer. Tis a joke, that's all. :)

Here is the modern problem it the recent "Games as Service" trend: http://crappy-games.wikia.com/wiki/%22G ... Service%22 and you are not alone as people feel the same was as you.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5h2msgNsGig and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6TzVsoexyg and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZU53Lk8Xb4 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVdUTaWaoWU. Also companies can change Microtransactions and Lootboxes with patches at any time!: https://youtu.be/qE6A5iCLeNo?t=5m18s And if a GOTY edition comes out it would be based with the latest patches installed to get rid of a problem that should not be their in the first place.

And also worth mentioning is companies waste their money on unnecessary stuff which makes them more expensive.: https://youtu.be/mXHbsMIMyCI?t=7m51s and https://youtu.be/mXHbsMIMyCI?t=18m47s and even bad product placements.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ikLGsOF57g. Heck they would rather spam pop up YouTube ads with games then make quality products.
