I stumbled upon an interesting article about Sega World. Apparently it was an amusement park in Australia in the late 90s. A few artifacts from it remain in a junkyard.

I think planned in 1994 and opened in 1997 pretty much sums up what the problem was. Of course the article mentions how Sony is the cutting edge of video games in 1997, so much so that you don't need to leave the house.

There was a sega world in London in the Trocadero. You went to it on a lighted escalator. It was just a collection of their arcade games. An indoor go cart track as well. I think it last 2 years and died.
There was also a Namco world. Not sure if I ever went to it. I think it was of a similar ilk.
