A cautionary tale of the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X!

Postby Sonicx9 » June 14th, 2018, 8:09 pm

You think that every new PS4 and Xbox One game released after both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, think again?

I can understand older game releases not supporting the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X if they are older unsupported games and all. But many games even those that got patch after Pro and X where in full effect or even new games post the Pro and X do not take advantage of the upgrade system 4K capabilities!

And that not all many do not run at a full fat 4K or 60FPS or both except for simpler games for both the Pro and X proves that the upgraded systems are not cracked up to be!

Thoughts?

I don’t think they were ever advertised with all future releases featuring 4K. You can certainly argue the value of upgrading, but you should know what you are getting into. If you buy the console thinking everything is 4K from here on then I think it’s your mistake for not doing any research. It’s another story if you think it’s a bad value if not every release is 4K and choose not to buy it for that reason. I don’t think it’s a case of false advertising, just I unmet expectations.

I don't expect every game to hit a full fat 4K for super demanding games they are likely a sub 4K resolution or checkerboarding being used on more demanding titles. But many enhanced games are still 30FPS even in single player games. And woese they do not give you the option to have better visuals, resolution, or even framerate if you desire.

And if I recall Microsoft said Xbox One X was uncompermised 4K 60 which is obviously not true!

And Sony PlayStation said that all future games support PS4 Pro post launch which is false.: http://www.engadget.com/amp/2016/04/18/ps4k-rumors/

It just the way they said it was rather misleading to consumers, makes it hard to trust what PR says.
