In one of your reviews. Tetris and Dr Mario I think. You say "I wonder if the guy who invented Tetris is a millionaire?" We'll, actually. He's dead, he didnt patent his idea and he killed himself.

BAM![/QUOTE]

That was Vladimir Pokhilko who killed his family and himself, the clinical psychologist friend of Alexey Pajitnov who developed the game. Apparently even psychologists can go crazy.

I'm currently working on my Masters in Social Psychology, and trust me, every psychologist (except me) is crazy.   A more anal retentive, boring, and  grades obbsessed group of people do not exist.  One girl in my class went and argued that she thought her 82% should be an 84%, and really pressed the matter.  Another guy was almost in tears trying to cut 5 pages out of an assignement because the proff had said ideally the assignement would be 20 pages, so he felt he had to shoot for the ideal.  He ended up changing a hugh section to express an opinion he didn't agree with because that opinion was shorter.  My paper was 26 pages full of pure drival and we both got the same mark (the same mark everyone in masters gets because they're in masters).  At some point the keeners who go on to get a clinical psych degree or a Ph. D just lose their minds entirely, it'd be sad if it weren't so funny.

This story sounds pretty fakey, but even if it's all true, it's not really the creator of Tetris at all. It's kind of a flippy floppy article in that way. Trying to make a very long and interesting story out of not much of a story. Still, some interesting stuff about the game's history, no doubt.

Hey Atarifever -

I'm leaving a Ph.D. program in political science right now.... your description sounds familiar.
