Whenever I read in a magazine about an uncoming adventure/RPG game, the premise is always the same. A rag-tag group of travelers band together to confront an "ancient evil".
What a tired concept! Why does the evil have to be ancient all the time? For once, I would like to see them face a brand new evil!
What are the other kind of cliches that make your eyes roll?

Ancient Evil and other cliches
Huge, pylon shaped hair. (Blue dragon and some others)
Round/oversized and generic animals.
Scenes where it looks like an up and coming affair is going to happen, but ends up dramatically short and unsubstantial.

Ancient Evil and other cliches
A burly squadron of marines with guns going in to fight bad guys/aliens/enemies.
Some guy with a slick robot suit that gives him superhuman abilities.
Not that there's anything wrong with these or that they're not cool, I just think there's more original ideas waiting to be used.

The tough-as-nails hero/anti-hero with the thick neck, hulking body, and cooler-than-though attitude. It got old years ago, to me! Madworld, as much as I love ya, I'm looking at you too!

"The Chosen One coupled with Amnesia"
The Story usually go along like this...
"[Insert Name] awoke with no recollection of his past or how he got to [insert quiet village outside of huge city]. For the past few years he has successfully worked as a blacksmith's apprentice. Little did he know that she was destined for greater things than a lowly blacksmith.
One night [town name] is attacked by raiders who kill everyone. The blacksmith you have loyally served for years discloses some important information about your past just before he dies. He also tells you where to find your ancestor's [insert cool sounding weapon]. So you leave, possibly with the aid of your best friend who also survived, to save the world...from an ancient evil (damn that cliche won't go away either!)."
