Intellivision controller in Sears catalog!

Postby Teddybear1 » March 31st, 2012, 8:19 am

I borrowed this from another forum.  It is AMAZING that replacement parts for the Intellivision controller are still available through the Sears catalog.  Well, at least a screw and the coiled cable.......

Remember those thick catalogs that Sears and other retailers would have out prior to the holidays?  Remember circling the pictures of the toys that you wanted to get?

But nothing beats shopping on-line I suppose.

I saw it on another video game forum (AA) and wanted to share it with you guys.  Don't worry - you'll always be my favorite, VGC.

It is amazing that a defunct 30 year-old product still gets space on the Sears on-line catalog.  Maybe I'll see if they have any Betamax replacement parts.....

This is cool, but it brings up some questions.  Why does Sears still have these parts?

Most of the parts are out of stock, without an option to buy them then wait for new ones to come in.

Could Sears still have old Atari/Intellivision parts from the 80's?  Are they just selling off 20+ year old components because they have nothing better to store? A few years ago there was an online closeout store that still had 2600 games, but a national chain!  This is amazing, strange, but amazing.

Sears sold their own version of the Intellivision (dubbed the "Super Video Arcade"). My guess is that Sears has been sitting on these parts since the early 80's.

And the parts are screws at least for the first one.  One would surmise that they re-used the same parts in other items over the years.

I still think it's an incredibly cool thing for Sears to post this stuff.

It makes you wonder what other web sites may be out there that sell video game parts, or maybe even old inventories of video games?
