I got to thinking about the range of baseball games on the Genesis from the excellent (SportsTalk, all the Sega World Series editions) to the poor (Hardball, Cal Ripken, EA's Tony LaRussa and Triple Play).
After checking the VGC Genesis reviews I was somewhat surprised to see that EA's Triple Play and Big Hurt Baseball hadn't been reviewed. Triple Play is a slight improvement for Electronic Arts who couldn't produce a good baseball game for the system. Big Hurt (Frank Thomas) was actually a pretty decent game.
Thanks for the reviews!

I always enjoy the sports game reviews, I like this site because they get their share of attention. The only Hardball game I own is #3 on the Genesis. The series always seemed to be for the more hardcore baseball fans that wanted a more sim like game. Of course gamplay was always lacking and very slow.
I never played Bubsy 2, the first one is garbage but I had heard the second one and the one on the Jaguar were a bit better...I guess not!

I preferred the second one to the first and the Jaguar, well except for the GameBoy version, that one really was the worst. I can't hate the Nerf placement and it frankly is much easier to get through now that there isn't that stupid one-hit system.
It's still like comparing a moldy turd to moldy diarrhea-stained carpet though
All of them are still frickin Ocarina of Time compared to the 3D one

Couldn't have said it better myself. It's like they just opened up a file full of an assortment of free digital artwork, added some animations, and had the computer place them in random locations throughout the game.
When I was a kid, before the advent of the internet, I kindof assumed that there was no such thing as a bad game, only games did or didn't suit your taste. This is one of those games that really messed with my head, because I really felt like I must just be too young to understand what appeared to me to have no rhyme or reason. Now I know I was perfectly normal.
