I kind've agree. It seems like this site pays a lot of attention to Corpse Killer for some reason. The 3DO version was just re-reviewed this last October. Why rewrite the review at all? Put that game away and forget about it for pete's sake!

On the other hand, the dedication to it is kind've funny.

That's just sad... I love Heart of the Alien. Frustrating yes, but I think it would at least get a C due to the history and value (2 games in 1). i hope you re-review this title.

I may take some of my previous comments back. I've just played some Another World / Out of this World back to back on different systems.

After playing the ST version and the Mega Drive version I still regard it as a very strong game. But then I played the Sega CD version. Something is off. Presentation and sound is above the aforementioned versions but the timing of the CD version is 'off'. I can't really explain it but for some reason it doesn't play as well as the cart version.

So Critic if you do revisit this game perhaps try the stock Genesis / Mega Drive version.

I completely agree. I know several people who rave about the Sega CD version but I think the gameplay is very "off" and frustrating, and I didn't like it one bit. I much prefer the SNES version, slowdown notwithstanding, and to my surprise I enjoyed the 3DO version too; haven't played the Genesis/Mega Drive version yet.

I didn't like the Heart of the Alien half at all. It superficially resembled OOTW, but the aesthetics and gameplay weren't in the same league. It felt like a betrayal of Chahi's vision of the original -- designed by committee, instead of a single brilliant creator. I'm glad I didn't go out of my way to play it as a kid; I would've been very disappointed.

Played this back in the day and got rid of it as soon as I could as it was terrible. Heart Of The Alien. Picked it up at a local store on the cheap for around $20 on the Sega CD which is unbelievable nowadays. I can now say this game sucks worse than I remembered. I would think this would be in the all-time 10 worst video games. I've never seen such a sloppy game and so many cheap hits. How did this even get a release with a straight face? This reminds me of Moto Cross on the 32X. Horrendous and unplayable.
