N64 Suggestions

If you enjoy racing games, I really had fun with Cruis'n USA and Offroad Challenge. Neither of these are technically good games, but something about them is just so fun and addictive. The N64 also had pretty good versions of Quake and Quake 2. Oh, and WCW/NWO Revenge is still my favorite wrestling game of all time. It's hardly a "hidden gem" though, being known and loved by lots of humans.

I really liked Dark Rift and the THQ WCW wrestling games.. Simple controls that made anyone pick up and play.

Mischief Makers is a hidden gem for the N64. It is made by Treasure. It is a 2D Platformer with puzzle elements to it. It is a Treasure game so it is off-the-wall. I hope this is added to the Virtual Console someday.

Oh whoops, it was hidden gems. In that case, Beetle Adventure Racing. It only has six tracks but these are some of the biggest and most spectacular tracks in racing games, and contains so many shortcuts and hidden secrets. Really fun game.

Jet Force Gemini is another one. I disliked it at first, but as I got used to it, it's become one of my favorite shooters on the N64. It's weird that a Rare game isn't well known by a lot of N64 fans, but it deserves to be played and loved. Loads of hidden secrets, kickass shooting gameplay, branching paths, and tons of weapons to dispose your enemies of. I can't believe this didn't sell as much as the other Rare N64 titles.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.  I currently have bought Shadowman, Wipeout, Castlevania, and True Golf (yeah yeah) and I added some of these suggestions to my want list.

I have a question - is Ogre Battle 64 an original game and the third installment of the Ogre Battle series? Or is it a remake of the first Ogre Battle?  Different sites seem to give conflicting information.

I second those THQ wrestling games. I'm not a wrestling fan, and I love those games.

It's so stupid, yet oh so satisfying to hit the analog stick (which is useless to control your guy) and do the "taunt" move! Thanks for the backup, Greisha! I used to play that game for hours on the road.. I thought I was one of the few who liked it. 2 player vs mode is a blast with a friend!

Even though critics hated it, I think Paperboy 64 was a pretty good game.
