Everybody likes Genesis reviews right?
I guess you're wondering why I re-reviewed Earthworm Jim 1 and 2. Well, I was reviewing the Saturn game and needed a point of reference. Then I looked back at the Genesis reviews and didn't like them.
Galahad however is brand new. It's a fun game once you get the hang of it.

I wish you would've mentioned the giant black bar that goes across the bottom of the screen in Galahad.

The best thing about Earthworm Jim's cow-launcher is that it's not just a throw-away gag. If you've finished the game, you know it comes back up in the ending. I won't spoil it by saying exactly how.

Good reviews, I have always like Earthworm Jim but it isn't one of my favorite platformers of the generation. Still, the graphics were excellent and the gameplay is pretty solid. I prefer the Saturn and Sega CD versions more (especially the Sega CD game for the password feature) but they were still really solid titles. I've never heard of Galahad before, odd it didn't work on your 32x equipped Genesis.

Interesting factoid about Galahad not working on your 32X. I was under the impression that one of the Virtua games (Virtua Fighter?) was the only regular Genesis title that couldn't run on the 32X...a non issue since there was a 32X version of it.
I wonder how many other regular Genesis games are out there that aren't 32X compatible. I can't imagine the list is very large or contains any games that are very well known.

Galahad was indeed originally developed for the computer. Commodore Amiga to be exact. It was released under a different title: Leander.

Critic your suspicions are correct Galahad was originally designed for home computers, the Atari ST and Amiga to be exact although it was titled Leander for those systems.

Disappointing to see the Earthworm Jim games get lowered grades. Those are some of my all time favorite games. For what basically amounts to a run n gun platformer, the games had TONS of imagination and humor jam packed into them. I don't think there has been anything like EWJ since. Those games really stood out in a crowded 16-bit genre. If there is any property that is BEGGING for a 2D HD revival it's Earthworm Jim.
The first game is a classic, but I always preferred the second game. It felt like the design team had something cool up their sleeve for each upcoming level. For me these are in the A to A+ range. Besides some blistering difficulty there isn't much that I don't enjoy about the EWJ games. Groovy!

I wonder if the Critic's problem with Galahad not working was more about the Genesis model than the 32x itself. Some early EA games don't work in a Model 2 Genesis. I have Zany Golf and it doesn't work on the model 2 unless I use a game Genie. Just a thought.

Orion - I think you are correct. I was using a model 2 and that makes more sense. I'll update the review.
