Forgive my stupidity: what is an Atari XEGS?

Go to the Atari XEGS section and read the system review.

Righto. Sorry about that. The first game system I had was an NES and I never went back. I feel like at some point I should get some sort of Atari system (Jaguar excluded).

i totally agree, the biggest reason i plunked down a dollar for an atari 400 (yup, a dollar) was to play 8-bit atari donkey kong

DK on the XEGS looks quite authentic, although I didn't play it.  However, fro my money, the best version of the game is the version inculded in Donkey Kong 64 (since it's a direct port of the arcade game).  It's just too bad that you have to buy the bloated, overhyped, and underwhelming DK64 to get that arcade perfect version...

Nice, definitely makes me want to check out Bruce Lee and if I tried I probably can get my grubby mits on that version of Donkey Kong. One question though... the arcade version has Donkey Kong on the right side of the screen as opposed to the left side of the screen? I did not know that.  In most versions of the game I believe donkey kong always sits screen left as opposed to this version where he sits screen right.

Also... not to nitpick but I'm pretty sure the scenery in Bruce Lee is supposed to be Chinese as opposed to Japanese.

No, it doesn't.  DK is on the left in the arcade version.
