Why does Ristar have the "expensive" icon? You can get the game for about 20-40 dollars. It that's too much, than i guess every new Xbox 360, Wii, or PS3 game should be labeled "expensive" because they're 50-60 dollars

I got "DJ Boy" for Christmas one year. I remember enjoying it at the time. I also recall it being rather short and easy to beat even with no continues.
I'd bump up the great a letter or two for people who are into wacky Japanese games.

Usually I can obtain a Genesis game complete for a reasonable amount of money. Try doing that with Ristar and you'll see why it has the icon.

$20 - $40 is expensive for a Genesis game, putting it at least in the 90th percentile in terms of price.
DJ Boy is an oddity - the arcade version was notable mostly due to Wolfman Jack lending his voice to it throughout. It even spawned an even cheesier sequel, B. Rap Boys:

The Beast Wrestler review made me chuckle, I thought Ristar was OK, very polished but not 'top notch'

A loose copy of Ristar costs about $15 right now. I think that's pretty cheap in terms of retro games. Loose Genesis games average $9 right now, so Ristar IS above average.

As for DJ Boy, your review was very fair. It's an offbeat game, but it still gets boring after a while. Regarding the politicaly incorrect moments, we Americans actually got a watered down version. The Japanese got to see a lot more:
"For the subsequent home release in North America and abroad, multiple changes were made. For example, Big Mama (now bearing pink skin) no longer farted; a male stripper character simply appeared in his "Chippendales" outfit from the start, rather than beginning as a homeless looking man who sheds his outer garments to fight. Another change that was made was the insertion of in-game billboards containing Japanese text with images of scantily clad women(and focusing on crotch images)."

I own the Japanese original version of DJ Boy, I didn't know the Genesis game was watered down. The original version is hilarious.

I love Ristar! This is a terrific platformer for the Genesis and it has some of the best graphics for the system. Hell, I didn't know that the Genesis could make games look this good. The only fault I found with the game is the odd combat system (headbutting takes some getting used to) and the pace... This game is pretty slow for a platformer. I wish he could run (it's been a while but I'm 99% sure he can't).
The other games look terrible although the screenshot for Beat Wrestler looked kind of cool. Too bad it apparently sucks.

I thought Ristar was pretty mediocre and dull
