What do you think are the essential Wii Games?

My personnal top ten (no order):

The two Zeldas.
SMB Galaxy 1&2
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn. Really shines as a direct sequel to the Gamecube installment.
Punch Out!! Great two player mode provides endless replay value. Fun game.
Xenosaga.
The Last Story
Pandora's Tower
Dokapon. Severely underrated, one of the best 'digital boardgames', with RPG elements thrown in. Discovered the series in its Super Famicom days, and this Wii edition doesn't disappoint.
Tatsunoko vs Capcom.
New Super Mario Wii.

Gotta agree with most folks...

Mario Kart, Excite Truck (and 'Bots), Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Boy and his Blob, Ivy the Kiwi, Zak and Wiki, Bit Trip Complete, Geometry Wars, House of the Dead, Klonoa, Muramasa, Order Up, Sin and Punishment, Speed Racer, Wii Sport nus/Resort, Boom Box, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Mercury Meltdown, Mario Galaxy...many others worth trying.

Despite the complaints of the "hardcore", there are plenty of good, unique games for the console.

The 2 Super Mario Galaxy games, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Kirby's Epic Yarn, DKC Returns, NBA Jam, Boom Blox, NHL Slapshot, Excitebots, Mario Kart Wii, Sonic Colors, Zelda: Skyward Sword, Wii Sports, Wii Fit/Plus, Wii Sports Resort, and Geometry Wars Galaxies. These are all my favorite games for the Wii and must haves. Underrated console, shovelware was the reason for public opinion not being as strong as the 360/PS3, but it was still a great console in my opinion.

Everyone else has already covered all the other games I would have said,
but I still think Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is worthwhile as either a
stand-alone game or a reinvention of the original game. It's also one of the
few games that I played for the Wii that made an effort at using the motion
controls in ways that added to the immersion of the game, rather than
becoming an annoyance.

That sounds like a good collection. I just like to add it's also a great console for classic point and click adventure style games, with Zack & Wiki, Another Code R, Tales of Monkey Island, Sam & Max Season One and Two, and quite some other ports of populair PC adventures.

Hmm, I'm not big on so many of the mentioned games. But nobody mentioned my favorite hidden gem.

I don't think Data East Collection has been mentioned. I also don't recall seeing it on other consoles.
