To me knowledge Metal Slug X came after Metal Slug 2 and was also released for the NeoGeo AES, not sure if there was a home version, be surprised if there wasn't.  They are basicly the same game.  The PS1 version of MSX is a port of the NeoGeo arcade version.  Shame to hear the CD version has slow down as MS2 is my favourite MS of all.

....The only arcade/Neo-geo metal slug I've played is this one, number 2. I had never heard of MS before this...in the early 2000's (ever think we'd be saying that?) when I was dating my (*ulp*) soon to be wife, she worked so I needed something to do while visiting her during the day. Luckily her Apt. was right across the street from a mall with a small ARCADE. The arcade had ten VG's and four pinballs but I dropped quarter after quarter into MS2! What a great shoot 'em up! I loved the little camel "slug" best. Many years later I would purchase Metal Slug GBA based on this experience....if you have a NG, guys, GET THIS GAME! I'd walk across the steet every day for a camel!

I just wanted to point out two interesting things about Ninja Commando(I own this on Neo Geo CD).

1. This game seems *related* to "Ninja Combat". It's basically the same game, only Ninja Commando is overhead and Ninja Combat is side scrolling. It's made by the same company, and each game has a "Joe" character that *might* be the same character. There's also the useless backflipping button, and a million other little things that lead me conclude the two games are related/connected somehow.

2. The main villian in Ninja Commando looks just like the "Let's Dance" era David Bowie!. In fact, if you think/pretend the game's main villian IS 1980's David Bowie, the game takes on a whole new camp-humor and charm.

This probably sounds like nitpicking but in Sengoku's review on the Neo Geo you alluded that the game is likely to cause carpool tunnel syndrome while it should be specified as carpal tunnel syndrome. This is a commonly misspelled phrase and I just wanted to point that out as you take so much pride in spell checking.
