2014/4/19: Colecovision: It's Only Rock 'N Roll, Subroc

It's Only Rock N Roll is a brand new review. Good novelty item but doesn't make much sense. Subroc is an updated review (C+ -> D+).

Good reviews. It's Only Rock and Roll looks like a game everyone in school used to play on their TI-83+ (calculators) back in the early 2000's. I think it was a drug simulation instead but basically everything from this game sounded the same.

When you accept a song, it prints "OK" all over the screen, which looks like something I would have programmed in BASIC when I was 10.

This made me LOL literally.

Had Subroc as a kid. For some reason, the thing that always turned me off about the game was the sound effects. I can't really describe why, but they just annoyed me -- like fingernails on a chalkboard. I can still hear them in my mind just thinking about the game....

Hmmm... I'll have to play it again and play closer attention to this.

Absolutely loved it. Played it back in 82 a classic. This game pushed the system to its limits. The sounds are great as well. B+ for me.

It's only Rock 'n Roll... was a game I bought for Commodore 64, on UK eBay... very fun! I tried the Colecovision version on emulator, ehhh... way too difficult to progress in the game on CV, and it's also missing some features.
I don't think you can win, I never have. OVER THE HILL, always on CV. [tongue]

TRY THE C-64 VERSION INSTEAD, YOU CAN ACTUALLY SOLVE THIS VERSION AND IT'S TWICE AS FUN. [smile]

I played Subroc, first time 3 years ago...? It was not my kinda game, but it was ok.

i use to have It's Only Rock N Roll on the Colecovsion back in 84 when Kay-Bee toys was selling it during the crash..not a good game at all but if you want to see this type of game done the way it should be done check out "Rockstar Ate My Hamster" on the C64..awesome Music management game
