Despite some slight design mishaps, my friends and I have a ball with this.

Thanks for the heads up about this xbone games being mainly online.  I think it kinda defeats the purpose.  It is a good review.  I am not keen on soccer games so I do not think I will be purchasing it anyway.  Though it is always good to know that it is a good game.  Shame about the manual though.

That pun hurts, Critic! Nice one [wink]

I've literally never played a soccer game. What is the best of all time in your opinion? Are the old ones generally better than the new ones?

Tecmo world cup is a lot of fun.  Also sensible soccer.  These days footy games are far too complicated.

Agree with Astrosmasher's post above. There are a bunch of great arcade games from the early to mid-90s if you are willing to use MAME. Otherwise Sensible Soccer still has a following (Amiga & PC are the preferred ports), International Superstar Soccer (and/or the Deluxe version) on the SNES is probably the best 16-bit football game, while Pro Evolution Soccer 4 or 5 are what I consider to be the zenith of balancing realism and gameplay. Coincidentally just yesterday I picked up a complete copy of Pro Evolution Soccer 5 on the PS2 for £0.15, so approximately a US quarter!

For my money, FIFA on 3d0 is as good as it gets.
