New PS2s still on Amazon

Postby ptdebate1 » August 2nd, 2014, 3:17 pm

I was browsing Amazon and discovered this a few days ago. The days of new PS2 hardware and software being cheap are running out, my friends. If you think you might need a new PS2 (that's guaranteed to work for a long time), now might be the time to buy one. They're still pretty reasonable at $132.99 with free shipping, but there's no telling how long this situation will last.

I've never had a slim PS2 give out on me, it's the fat ones that are unreliable. No one ever points this out.

I should start hunting down PS2 games if they're gonna get expensive at some point.

True! That's why I thought it might be a good idea to inform everyone in case there's someone out there that's still relying on an ailing fat PS2 and looking to upgrade.

The slim PS2s are really a marvel of engineering if you ask me.

My original slim PS2 stopped reading discs, so they're not infallible.

I don't know why Dave thinks the slim ones lack elegance, if anything it looks less chunky and stupid.

My PS2's been getting a lot of play recently, maybe because all the new games are so underwhelming. I still haven't found a use for a PS3 and certainly not anything newer.

Well nothing's infallible, but the slim PS2s are as close as you can get. I've had a 2600 break on me and I'm not denying their durability.

My PS2 Fat disc tray game me all kinds of headaches. It also didn't like to read discs unless they were mint.

My PS2 slim is a champ. It will read even very scuffed up games.

Does anyone have links to resources on repairing a slim PS2 not reading discs? I bought a replacement when they hit $99 at retail, but I'd like to see if I can get my original slim working. The replacement I bought was the final revision, without laptop style AC adapter, that feels light and empty as if it runs on nanomachines.
