People are different, yet I'm wondering why anyone would find such a word offensive.

I'm offended by commas. Please Critic take out all the commas in your reviews. Come to think of it; I don't like exclamation marks either. They frighten me. Please stop using them.

I was actually offended by the way the word was used in the review (hence the phrase "rude language").

Should I change it to "heck"?

I understand completely what Mario500 is saying. When I read that sentence, I too felt that the VGC was indeed taken over by Satan, Lucifer, Beelzebub, the Prince of Darkness, Mephistopheles, the Great Deceiver, The Angel of Darkness, Diablo, The Wicked One, Bete Noire.
We, as his loyal minions, must perform a seance to break the VGC of this dastardly spell. Someone bring me a Ouija Board, two Q-tips, an ice-cube, and a mustache comb.

I suggest removing the entire sentence and changing the next sentence to this instead:
For example, this bear of a first boss would run into me, pause to be "recharged" by some kind of yellow pod, and repeat the process (it was all confusing!).

To Dave: I don't think so, I'd just leave the text as it currently is.

They say 'hell' in kids cartoons which pass for universal. Obviously Mario500 is offended but on the whole I don't think hell is deemed an offensive word. It's needed for the humour and the context it's used in is non-offensive.
It's difficult when your audience gets bigger and sensitivities vary, but if you have your style you need to stick to it otherwise you lose what brought people here in the first place.

I wonder if the same team behind this Dynamite Headdy conversion for Sega's 8 bit hardware was responsible for the similarly well done Ristar port on the Game Gear?
Never played Dynamite Headdy, but I'll have to check it out soon in its Master System form (Which alas, doesn't exist in the case of Ristar since it was a Game Gear exclusive).
