An ultimate edition of this game was recently released for the PS4.  FYI

I just played this game on my friend's PS4 and I wasn't that impressed but I think it was because he never gave me a chance to get into the story. Instead, he just started running around and telling me to click here, go here, etc, and I had no clue what I was doing. Still, once I got the hang of it, it was all right. Nothing too amazing. It really reminded me of Guantlet and Dungeon Explorer. I did notice an error in your review though:

"Dungeons and battlefields are populated by skeletons, minotaur..." I think you meant to say "minotaurs" since everything after that suggests more then one. Unless you meant to suggesting one minotaur.

It is a RPG.  Gauntlet was an RPG as well.  That is to say it was a Role Playing Game.  Admit it critic you like RPGs.

Right now, the Ultimate Evil Edition for PS4 is my only must have game for the system. I definitely need to pick it up soon!

The Ultimate Evil Edition is excellent.  I picked this up for the Xbox One a few weeks ago and the upgrades/extras are well worth the investment.  You can even import your existing player from the vanilla version (PS3 or Xbox 360) into this new upgrade.

I got the X-Box One version too and have been loving it. Yeah, at times, it's a bit of a button masher, but boy oh boy is the game addicting. It's really tough to put the controller down, and I've certainly got my money's worth.

With Halloween around the corner I figured this would be a good time to try to load D3 back up on my PC to see if they've finally done away with that rancid, nasty, despicable 'always connected to Blizzard servers' requirement.  Right off the bat I was forced to log into my battle.net account (not a good sign), and now it's downloading what it claims is 10G worth of a patch!  I'll have to post back later to let everyone know how this turned out, since it appears it'll be awhile before I'll be able to play.

I just noticed an ironic line in the review: "many regard this as an RPG." Was the humor intended here? Whether it's a hack&slash, ARPG, or dungeon crawler--call it what you like--Diablo III is nothing if not an RPG.

I can't argue the point; I guess any game where you control a character in a fantasy world technically could considered an RPG.

I was referencing RPG in the traditional sense: Final Fantasy, Lunar, Dragon Warrior, Secret of Manna, Phantasy Star, Ultima, etc.

Ah yes. I guess the concept of "RPG" has grown so far beyond it's original definition that a distinction has to be made. For me what separates Diablo from the likes of Gauntlet (which definitely still has some strong RPG elements), however, is the strong focus on character building above all else. There are no complex dungeon puzzles, for example, and the combat (such as it is) totally hinges on DPS rather than reflexes.
