Spicewar you are awesome. While I only comprehend a bit from the slide, the gist makes perfect sense.

The european version of the odyssey supposedly had a chess module as the odyssey itself was thought incapable. Do you think the O2 could pull the same trick and give up draw display toward computation?

I used to play chess a lot but still prefer the pro engines which are good at playing like real people depending on the setting. I have Rybka 4 and Fritz 14, they play like real people would for those particular skill levels which even the grand masters admit. You can set them so they play the same styles as say Kasparov. Maxed out however it's true that even GM's have a hard time. I think Rybka 4 engine is at the top overall, I used to have fun trying CPU vs CPU matches which other engines. Amusing to note that the King engine used in chess master series is always beaten by even the free engines.
