A lot of people (including myself) are not crazy about the current look of these forums. Most of the settings are the defaults and I intend to customize these soon (next few weeks) to make the forums look more like the rest of the site.
I was thinking about using the same font I use for the reviews. Good idea?
I could do the same for the colors, but the light-blue on black might be a little harsh for some readers. What do you think? I'm open to all suggestions.
I also plan to move the signature blocks to the left if it's not too hard.

Re: Forum colors and font
I'm not sure what the exact color tone should be but it should definitely be darker. Anything this color or lighter really takes away from the site. Perhaps you could try and mirror it to match the old site (color scheme wise)?

Re: Forum colors and font
Have you come up with a color scheme to update the forums with?

Re: Forum colors and font
Well as you can see I started playing around with the colors and font. It's a work in progress but I think a step in the right direction. The text is larger (Verdana) and the colors are more consistent with the rest of the site.
I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback and suggestions.

Current forum color and font look good to me.
Otherwise, I implore you to move the user info over to the left like before, it triggers my autism every time I come here.

Gentlegamer,
I'm a little worried that moving the panel to the left side might mess up the mobile view, which seems to just show the stuff on the left half of the screen.

Re: Forum colors and font
I know its a work in progress, but we appreciate the effort towards a more readable forum.
On mobile, I can no longer see the banner, just an indigo field. That may be intentional to reduce load times.
There is text, sometimes hypertext, remaining in blue on the now darker background making it hard to read.
The light grey/dark grey banding may just be a matter of taste, but since I'm not reading across a post, but down a line of posts, I don't find it helps. I think banding helps in reading data tables, but not necessarily for this application

Thanks for the feedback so far. Didn't realize I had lost the mobile banner.
Next week I was thinking about trying a black background (everywhere) with light green links.
