Patrick McNee and the Avengers

Postby scotland » June 25th, 2015, 7:31 pm

Just read that Patrick McNee, aka John Steed of the Avengers, died. Man, I am still recovering from Christopher Lee...

The Diana Rigg years are ones I have as a boxed set from a Christmas gift, and I loved that show. Mrs Peel, We're needed!

Even as an American raised on Marvel Comics The Avengers, I always had to clarify which Avengers people were talking about - cause the British Avengers was cool even in black and white. Bowler hat, umbrella and style - and almost never a gun. From what I read, he was quite a nice fellow. Always thought that the Roger Moore James Bond movie, A View to a Kill, in which Patrick McNee had supporting role was a lost opportunity. Should have let McNee just be a Steed expy, or even a villain, as he had already been Count Iblis (basically Satan) in the original Battlestar Galactica series.
