The bonus levels are the Present Rooms:

And where do Christmas Presents belong?  By the Christmas Tree of course [biggrin]

I have a question about Stay Frosty 2 - are you able to pause the game?  Or when you advance to the next level is there a break in the action until you engage movement (like H.E.R.O)?

Whether it be to answer the phone, take the laundry out of the dryer or just Mother Nature doing her thing after a few beers I would consider this an important feature for a 2600 timed platformer.

I appreciate games like Pitfall II, H.E.R.O and Montezuma's Revenge where I can walk away and take a break (if needed) without losing all my lives and ending the game.  Since the Atari 2600 doesn't have a built-in pause feature I would think it would be worth mentioning in the review.

Because of the review I am almost certain I want to get this game but the lack of a pause feature might be a deal-breaker.

On a 2600 toggle TV TYPE.  On a 7800 press PAUSE.  SF2_20131217_RC8_NTSC_4.png

Repeat to unpause, or alternatively press and release FIRE.  The press/release is to prevent the accidental throwing of a snowball.

I had to actually look at my 2600 to see what "TV TYPE" was (Color / B & W).  How easily one can forget!

Thank you for this - I think I will be visiting the AA store soon.

Six months later I finally got around to ordering Stay Frosty 2.........and it is like Christmas in July around here!!!!

This game is AMAZING!! It is the perfect blend of challenge and fun. The graphics (I still can't get over how cool the snowman's facial expressions are) are fantastic and the control is just right. Having the two continues allows for extra practice on levels that are tough to figure out the first (or seventh) time around.

I compare the snowman control to H.E.R.O. - it takes a while to get the hang of it but when you do it works perfectly for the game. Long playing sessions do take a toll on my hands and I still struggle with throwing snowballs with precision. I may need to break out a Genesis controller for SF2.

I urge any 2600 platform-lover who hasn't gotten this game to run over to the AtariAge store and buy it now.

There's an Easter Egg to enable the level selector we used during testing, I posted how to trigger it in the SF2 HSC topic over at AtariAge, it's hidden behind a SPOILER tag in reply 41.

I may need to break out a Genesis controller for SF2.

I prefer to play it with the Genesis controller.
