Couch to 5K

Postby Herschie » September 29th, 2015, 12:08 pm

Anyone ever try this? Being gamers, I could see how it would be mighty easy getting embarrassingly out of shape. I mean, Taco Bell and video games, what could be better? I mean, that's my idea of a great time.

Until this past weekend when I was in a World War 2 reenactment, and was having 67 year old reenactors run circles around me. I decided enough was enough. My wife makes fun of me every time I get all winded going up the stairs. And hey, I want to be around for Playstation 8 in 2053 (PS2 came out five years after PS1, PS3 six years after PS2, and PS4 seven years after PS3. So I project 2053 based on Sony always putting one more year between releases).

Anyway, if anyone has tried this, I'm curious to know what your results are.

Think in terms of: Eat to live

Not

Live to eat.

Find a sport you enjoy & play it.

Get the Wii Fit. That will solve all of your problems.

Eh, the downstairs neighbors might have a problem with that. Of course, if they complain, I could point out how they make my place smell like an eggroll when they cook.

But after two C25K workouts, it's really not so bad. Run for a minute, walk for 90 seconds. Repeat for a total of eight times. Do that three times in the first week. Naturally you do more running and less walking as the weeks go by. If all goes well, I should be able to run 5K by November 27th.

Running sucks. To the chiropractor with me!
