The Nintendo President has said Nintendo is thinking on licensing out its characters for movies. They seem to be looking at 3D animation, as part of the business plan of being being more a general entertainment company, and less a dedicated video game company. Their last year over year profit fell 61%, which is incentive enough to change how they have operated in the past. Any movie sounds like it would be several years off.
The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and Star Fox are examples of franchises that might work better than Mario characters, although Luigi's Mansion could be a fun Halloween animated movie. Maybe Wonderful 101 could be an animated superhero movie?

Honestly, im surprised this hasnt happened already in some way. Maybe with straight to DVD videos, or even Nintendo hosting a series on their website or something like that.
Would be really cool to have something like that.

Wasn't/ Isn't Pokemon a licensed Nintendo product? How many movies do they have at this point?
Zelda? Metroid? DK? I think not. I'm pretty sure we've all been waiting 20+ years for that 3d movie of Captain N: the Game Master!

Did you know Nintendo holds the rights to two porn movies (Super Hornio Brothers 1 & 2)? Of course it didn't produce those movies, but I believe they bought the rights to keep those films away from the public...
