Excellent review. Encapsulated key points without unneccessary words. I Have to finally give this series a try. Would you recommend that I start with the first game, which is this one right?

It's the first in the Dark Souls series, but Demon's Souls actually came first. They're not TECHNICALLY in the same series, but they're so similar that really it's just the name that sets them apart. Demon's is a little bit clunkier than Dark, but not so much that's it's unplayable.

If you have PS3, start with Demon's Souls, the very first game.

While it has optional cryptic stuff, the main game is much more straightforward, with a hub zone that allows "Mega Man" style level select, compared to Dark Souls, which is more of open-wordlish/Zelda-ish 'world-dungeon' where you may get frustrated trying to figure out where to go next.

Gentle gamer I noticed the classic systems you own. I had a 32X back in the day but have no interest in getting it again. I did fairly recently get a Sega CD again as I enjoyed it back in the day and am enjoying it again. My q to u is, is the master system worth getting the console and collecting for? I am pretty unfamiliar with it and am doing research. It's gotten fairly expensive and my budget is limited. I'll prob pass and just collect more games for my current consoles. But give me your best argument on why to get one. Thanks!

I noticed that the reader votes have it graded significantly lower than I did. I'd like to hear some of their opinions on it.
...or, are they just salty cuz they couldn't beat the game? GIT GUD, SCRUBLORDS! ;)

1. Don't collect.

2. Get a Power Base Mini FM http://www.stoneagegamer.com/powerbase-mini-fm.html

3. Get a Mega Everdrive, you can load it with Genesis and Master System games

I had dark souls on the xbox and it was absolutely dreadful. Okay graphics but just so Japanese. When it became backwards compatable I downloaded it.. played it for 5 minutes and deleted it. This game style went out with the ark. Though if you like this style of game there is lords of the fallen as well on ps4 and xbone.

I'm interested to know WHY you thought it was so bad, Blasteroid. I found the game to be very playable, and highly polished to boot.
