Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch)
Holy cow! I have played this game a total of five minutes, and I am absolutely blown away by it. Welcome to the Switch era, good times are to be had!

Waiting for my WiiU version from Amazon. Sticking with that era.

So far, this is the best game I've ever played in my entire life! The world is HUGE! And there's danger everywhere you go. You really have to watch your surroundings. Weapons are scarce, and enemies are tough. And they're smart. This is not going to be an easy Zelda. It's not as tough as Adventures of Link, but if you were expecting the difficulty of Twilight Princess, you are going to be in for a rude awakening.
The graphics are pretty good, but the sound is amazing. I'm happy that my surround-sound system is compatible with the Switch (It wasn't with the Wii U). Birds seem to be all around you, and with the rear speakers, I can tell if an enemy is in front of me or behind me.
This game is well worth taking the day off for.

I'm seven hours in, and I'm actually going to admit that this is either the best Zelda since LttP, or the best game in the series! It gets rid of the hand holding that, in my opinion, dragged the series down, ramps up the difficulty, and brought back the sense of wonder from the first game!
I was seriously not expecting the game to be this good! If I were to put a grade on it, based on what I've seen up to this point, I would easily give it an A+!

This is an all timer for sure. The two things that really open the game up is the ability to climb anything, and gliding through the air. I've spent so much time just wandering around, finding shrines, fairies, gathering things, and unlocking the map because the game makes it easy. See something in the distance up a mountain? Fast travel to a tower, glide over, and climb up the mountain and see what it is. Total freedom. 10/10, A+, superlative, superlative, superlative. I wonder how it will be going back to the other Zeldas after this one. In comparison the previous entries are very rigid and linear.

words right out of my mouth. I literally played Twilight Princess HD the morning of BotW's release. Going to be hard to go back.

I highly recommend purchasing a surround sound system for this game. The sound is top notch. My dog was going nuts wondering where the heck those animals were. As for me, I kept on wondering why they put sirens in the game, only to realize that it was the Chicago Police I was hearing outside. You really can't tell what's real and what's the game.

It's getting hard not to jump on the hype train for this game. I just bought a PS4. I don't need to go buying Wii U games right now, haha. Anyway, one thing I'm curious about is, how is this game different from other open world RPGs? I just bought The Witcher 3, which everyone tells me is the greatest open world game ever made. What does BotW do that The Witcher, Skyrim, Dragons Dogma, Kingdoms of Amalur, and others don't?
