Switch cartridges taste terrible, on purpose

Postby sixam » March 2nd, 2017, 9:28 pm

The cartridges for Nintendo's new console taste terrible, and it is because Nintendo made them that way. A dedicated journalist, who apparently wanted to review all aspects of the new console, licked one of the cartridges. The bitter taste was over powering.

Nintendo has responded to inquiry: “To avoid the possibility of accidental ingestion, keep the game card away from young children. A bittering agent (Denatonium Benzoate) has also been applied to the game card. This bittering agent is non-toxic.” The article goes on to say that a taste of older generation Nintendo cartridges was done, such as NES and Super NES, and they also have a faint taste of this bittering agent. No mention is made of taste tests done on classic game cartridges, such as the Atari 2600.

Have you tasted any of your game cartridges?

Last Christmas, I served a nice toasted "Duck Hunt" with mashed zapper and a light pinot noir.

I love the Wii U but I have to give you props for that. I laughed out loud.

It's true, the cartridges taste like very bitter earwax, at least to me.

Yes, I know what earwax tastes like, let's just leave it at that.
