Since we talked about the loudness war and all the terribly mixed albums, which albums are the best for headphone listening? This can be any genre, including video game music.
Here's my list
Massive Attack-Mezzanine
Fleet Foxes-Self titled
Rage Against the Machine-Self titled
Deftones-White Pony
Wild Nothing-Nocturne
Daft Punk-Random Access Memories
Vampire Weekend-Modern Vampires of the City
R.E.M.-Automatic For the People
Radiohead-OK Computer and Kid A
Jeff Buckley-Grace
Smashing Pumpkins-Siamese Dream
Nine Inch Nails-Downward Spiral and Fragile
Outkast-Pretty much everything, but mostly ATLiens/Aquemini
Kendrick Lamar-GKMC/To Pimp A Butterfly

Invasion of your privacy by Ratt is a KILLER album to listen to with headphones. Seriously. I've been enjoying that album for 30 years now.

Sufjan Stevens' Age of Adz is my favorite mixed animal, in part because the production is INSANE.

The Blue Album and Pinkerton by Weezer are great headphone listening. Man, I've been obsessed with Weezer lately.

Who isn't to be honest. I'm having a hard time choosing between the Blue album and Pinkerton. Both? Go both.

I love both, but I have to go with Pinkerton. I love the raw noisy sound and the heart on sleeve songwriting of Pink. I kind of feel bad for them for peaking with their 2nd album. Oh well, their last two albums were great and easily their best work since at least Maladroit. I hope we can finally put that awful Make Believe-Hurley era behind us.
