I've never played Super Bomberman R, but it's disappointing to see a classic franchise get botched so badly on a system tailor-made for local multiplayer games. I guess that's modern-day Konami for you. To think that Metal Gear Solid V may have been their last genuinely great game is...rather depressing considering they used to deliver quality titles all the time.

But Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is definitely an awesome time even if it is essentially a port, and it's really no different from all the remasters of previous-generation games we saw so many of in the first couple years of the PS4's and Xbox One's lifespan (many of which didn't even include extra content like this game does, mind you).

Do you have any plans to review Puyo Puyo Tetris? It's become my second favorite Switch title and it's excellent for head-to-head multiplayer, even if the voices and general cutesiness can occasionally be grating.

Based on your reviews thus far, Switch games are split 50/50 between great games and duds.

My Puyo Puyo Tetris review is coming along. The more I play this the more I like it! So many modes! I'm hooked on the story mode.

Good reviews. Here's my question for Mario Kart: as a Wii U owner with no intentions to buy a Switch anytime soon, are the improved battle modes included in the Wii U's DLC or are the exclusive to Switch?

I have the DLC on wii u, and it is the new tracks, and a few characters like dry Bowser, link, and villager. I found the new tracks to be almost more engaging than the regular ones.

The battle mode is exclusive to switch and I believe it has the inkling characters from splatoon.

I bought Bomberman on launch day and I agree with what you said and the grade. It's really hard to tell if you are lined up with certain objects, which is a BIG deal in a Bomberman game since you are setting off explosives. It should not have been an isometric view; instead it should have been overhead. They chose style over substance and the game suffered for it.

You mentioned the patches. I have not downloaded the latest, but one is said to improve the controls by upping the framerate, giving you more time to react.

I can't for the life me understand the appeal of Mario Kart. Track design is cool, graphics are great but the game is just slow to me (I owned it for the WiiU). Plus it is the same old tired game design....win four races for the gold! Rinse and repeat. This is just a tired racing game from the 90's,if not for the graphics it could pass for the SNES game. Now that being said it is a fun multiplayer game but all in all a solid B in my opinion.

Nice reviews, too bad about Bomberman... That has got to be the first classic Bomberman physical release since the NGC I think... (not including the terrible 360 game). With almost 30 years to practice the formula you would think it wouldn't be too hard to throw together a solid Bomberman Game.

They should just have ported Saturn Bomberman ... that game is immense and the BEST bomberman. I have been playing the series since 1985.
This one looks like the 360 BM which I only thought was okay.
