Trying to identify a Pokémon from Ruby and Sapphire
Two days ago, I went to a throwback game store that just opened two weeks ago. There I managed to buy two issues of Nintendo Power from the early 2000's (May 2001 and February 2003, to be exact). On the former, I read the "PokéCenter" section which hinted at the unveiling of a then-upcoming Pokémon game in Japan (which apparently turned out to be Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, the latter of which was the first Pokémon game I ever played), and revealed the Japanese names of three new Pokémon. I was able to identify "Kakureon" and "Hoeruko" (who we know as Kecleon and Wailmer, respectively), but it's the Pokémon known as "Luri Luri" that I can't seem to find any information about online. Does anyone recognize this Pokémon, or was it dropped from the final game? If anyone knows anything about it, please let me know via reply. Thanks!

Don't know much beyond the 1st generation, but I like solving things.
Searching Serebii, Bulbagarden, or The Pokemon Wiki with Google brings up nothing for "luri."
I'll try to try some other engines later. Maybe other Pokemon sites too.

Tried the same set of queries on Yahoo (Bing,) Gigablast, and Yandex.
Nothing.
Still a few more engines with their own indices. Not looking promising tho. I may also use Google to look for +pokemon +luri under different dates, from the release of G/S to the 2rd gen games. Still need to check other Pokemon sites too.

That does sound like Azurill.
Still if those were the 1st results for "luri luri" Pokemon I don't know why the op didn't find it. Simple query.

Looks like you have to use exact quotes to find luri luri, otherwise Google thinks you misspelled lyrics. That may explain why it's hard to find. Still surprised the phrase didn't make it onto one of the major Pokemon sites, especially Serebii since he has archived updates going back before he owned a domain name.

Aright using stalvern's query on Exalead brings up this page: http://dennisquann.tripod.com/pokemusic/id4.html
That page has a picture of Azurill with...wait for it...the caption Luri Luri! So this is solved.

Chew's Pokemon Splat also has a picture of Azurill id'd as Luri Luri, so I can't take credit for solving anything. Thanks Stalvern!
