Kirby usually isn't my favorite video game series (exceptions being Epic Yarn and Nightmare in Dreamland), but this game is one I enjoy a lot. I got it from a friend of mine back in 2010, but I think I enjoy it more now than I did back then.
It's a 2.5D platformer where you must collect these crystals in every level (many are hidden). You can attack enemies with the usual power ups and an innovative combo system that lets you combine any 2 sets of powers (even the same kind). My favorite is the electric rock chain (combine electric with rock); it's really cool to use.
Anyway the game is fairly easy and the settings are nicely varied. I love using the d-pad to move, and the graphics have a nice charm to them. The music is also really good.
It's not the most spectacular thing you'll play but Kirby 64 is a very good game either way that I enjoy. Thoughts?

That Checkerboard Chase minigame is one of the best multiplayer games ever. It's a shame that Nintendo never spun it off as its own game, even as a download.

Playing this game again, and I think the critic should review it. Since it's played from a 2D plane there's no camera struggle at all, and the combination system makes this more interesting than the average Kirby game.

It’s a solid game. The best power is Ice plus Electric. Go fridge!
