This is classic old-school action.  Feel free to chime in.

You already got a copy of Pac-Man Collection? They only shipped very recently I believe. Or are you judging it by the rom? I have it loaded into my Cuttle Cart II, its a great collection. If I had the money I'd buy a copy in a second, but for now I'll settle for playing the rom on my 7800.

No, I have the real thing.  The VGC does have a few connections.  More and more each day in fact!

ALLright! Some more golden age reviews, and VGC likes 'em all!

A couple of comments-did you know that the Pac-games Hangly Man and Puc-Man and Pac Man Plus were all real arcade games too? The first two were rip-offs of pac man (although a certain KEN USTON didn't know that and reviewed them in his "Beating Pac Man" book as if they were legit variations!). PMplus WAS a legit follow up and ridiculously hard with the dissapearing mazes and MONSTERS (as everyone knows I have a beef with the "ghost" thing).

On Food Fight, you said it was "pretty much exclusive to the 7800 system". The 7800 version is the best, but it is also available for the Atari XE system (and compatible with other Atari computes). The slow motion playback was also in the arcade game.
Great reviews!

Sometimes a set of reviews comes along and makes me want to go out and buy some older systems! Ms. Pac Man could be the greatest arcade game ever. Although it pains me to admit that my old man used to kick my ass at this game back in the day. Argh! The sly old veteran!

I don't have it yet, but can you change the 5 lives thing is Ms. PacMan by moving the difficulty switchs?  I know in Bob's PacMan hack you can do that, but I don't know if he added that himself.

My copy of PacMan collection is being held by Albert because I'm not at my house for Christmas to get it.  I'm hoping Namco doesn't do a cease and desist before then.

Great reviews!  I might need to actually get a 7800 now.

In Food Fight you say "If own an Atari 7800, Food Fight needs to be in your library."

I'm guessing you meant to say "If you own an Atari 7800, Food Fight needs to be in your library."

In Ms Pac-Man you've got a "?" instead of an apostrophe in the word "they?re".

Good stuff.

It should be mentioned that the ARCADE Ms. Pac-Man had changeable difficulty levels and allowed players to start with from 2-5 extra "ladies".

While the 7800 version IS fantastic, I still say the BEST Ms. Pac-Man , no contest, is the SNES / GENESIS versions that are BETTER than the coin-op. Sound is better (especially in stereo!) , graphics are crisper (REAL ROUND DOTS, not SQUARES!) , and there are multiple maze modes, "arcade", "big", "mini", and best of all "Strange" with extra mazes with dead ends or no walls to follow, AND extra prizes added like stars, flowers and a disembodied HAND! It should be called "Ms. Pac-Man PLUS"!

I've never played Food Fight on the 7800, but absolutely loved it as a kid in the arcade.  After reading your review, I'm seriously considering buying a 7800 just to play Food Fight.   And Ms. Pacman would be my next purchase. I just think Food Fight is a great, great game...one of the best that came out of the arcade in 1983.  Jesus, that was 23 years ago!  Where's my Ben Gay?

I fixed the typos - it's amazing how hard it is to proofread your own work!

No, the difficulty switches don't adjust the lives in Ms. Pac-Man.

The arcade version may have had adjustable lives, but three was the default, and that's how it always was when I played.
