Dude, I never said it wasn't scary.  Resident Evil is one of the scariest games ever.  I'm still scared of that game.  But I think it's effectiveness is compromised on the small screen.
I'm going on a trip to Finland this summer, and never played RE on the Gamecube or Playstation.  In that context, would the DS version totally be worth it?

I can understand that the scariness is effected by the small DS system, but the fun factor is still there right?  Is it still fun to blast off zombie heads?  Do the boss fights still induce sweaty palms?  As long as this stuff is intact than I'm a happy gamer.  I remember playing RE over and over just to achieve the higher grades for finishing it.  Try playing through the whole game without saving...that will make the game 10x as tense.

I think the biggest rip on the game should be the fact that the still have the ink ribbon save system in place even though its on a handheld system.  That sucks for anyone gaming on the road and has to save "right then and there".  I guess when I read your review the game still sounded good enough to buy again and thats why I questioned the C- score.

Hey, if you want a mini version of RE then the DS version is fine.  However, it's not as fun on the small screen, and I really dislike the small buttons on the DS system.  They're uncomfortable.

There's about a billion Ribbons in the game. Unless you save every five minutes, you won't run out.

Yeah, but these are extra small, and they lack rounded edges. I never had a problem with the buttons on other portables, but the DS makes my thumbs sore.

The DS Lite is getting rid of the small black buttons and replacing them with large round spongy ones according to IGN.  That might solve your problem Dave.

But what if you don't have enough time to get back to a typewriter?  JustLikeHeaven is right, the ink ribbon system is inappropriate for gaming on the go.
