5200 crummy keypad covers!

I've heard a lot of complaints about the 5200 JOYSTICK and SIDE BUTTONS, but something else bugs me. The Keypad was obviously stolen from Intellivision. BUT INTV included nice, full color PLASTIC overlays for their games!

The 5200? CARDBOARD! And to add insult to injury, you had to punch them out yourself. They were almost all black with very little information on them. Thankfully, few games used them but for STAR RAIDERS and FOOTBALL you NEED THESE! And they rip, warp and tear so easily!

For a $400 system with $40 games you would expect MORE!

BTW, Does any JAGUAR game have an overlay(s)?

I know that a lot of Jaguar games have overlays. I know that Cybermorph has one and AVP has 3 for the Alien, Predator, and Marine. Other Jag games have overlays but I don't know exactly which ones.

No you are wrong, i bought all my 5200 cartriges when they were brand new back in the 80's (i'm probably older than the VGC), and all the games came with plastic overlays not cardboard not ever, if you got cardboard overlays then someone made them after the fact.

No, I am right as rain. An early Review of the "supersystem" in 1982 also complained about this.

The Atari 5200 games ORIGINALLY came with cardboard (really thick paper) overlays!

HOWEVER 5200 enthusiasts have recently reprinted them out on nice glossy plastic stock. In this case the PAPER came first, the PLASTIC ones after. I'm aware that 5200 Homebrews come with plastic overlays.

I bought my 5200 and games in 1984, young'un so Gramps knows.
I have 40 original boxes with instructions & paperoverlays!
Don't argue with yer elders sonny!

On the Jaguar Iron Soldier had one as well.  They were thin and plasticky.  Haven't had the courage to slide mine out yet though, don't want to rip the delicate attachment pieces.
